Impregnate wood? Read here why
- 08 Feb, 2021
Wood is a beautiful and popular material in the garden. It can be used for many things, such as a garden set, a garden house or a fence. But if you already have some experience with it, you also know that wood does not remain beautiful forever. The big advantage, being a natural material, is at the same time the disadvantage, because wood reacts to the influences of the weather. It can turn green, fade or even rot. That is a shame, especially since it lasts much longer with good treatment. Wood impregnation prevents you from having to throw away your wooden things prematurely and only lets you enjoy the benefits. Read with me to learn more about this.
If you are going to treat wood for outside, it is important that you protect it against the weather. Scaffolding wood has a beautiful appearance and is well suited for, for example, a garden set. But it is also a material that is very sensitive to rain. It can warp and decay over time. This way you will not enjoy your garden furniture for long. It is therefore important to protect this wood against moisture so that you can extend its lifespan considerably. But the harder woods also benefit from this protection. Even though it takes longer for rain to take hold of the harder types, it will have a shorter life if you don't impregnate it. Sunlight also has an influence. It changes the color of the wood. For example, Douglas wood tends to turn gray under the influence of sunlight. If you want to keep the beautiful color, you will have to impregnate the wood. Nano coating is also a good solution for this, because it protects against UV rays. Untreated wood may rot or deteriorate over time, depending on the type of wood and age, but what you will always see is the presence of algae. A green color is created on your beautiful garden furniture or fence. That doesn't look pretty. There are special cleaning agents for this so that you can get rid of the algae. After that, the wood is also protected against new algae growth. If you impregnate immediately, algae will not be able to grow from the start.
As described above, wood does not last forever. Still, with the right treatment, it can last a very long time. By treating wood for outside, impregnating it, it is protected against moisture and sunshine. Nanocoating is very suitable for this. It is completely invisible protection. The color does not change and no layer is visible, unlike for example stain or lacquer. The natural color and appearance are fully preserved. Nanocoating has the advantage that it is very easy to apply. You apply it on a dry surface. It is completely absorbed within an hour and after a day the wood is completely protected. The particles in the nanofluid will make the wood water-repellent. The drops will remain on the surface. This way you can protect the wood against moisture.
